Hi, I'm Marianne MacKenzie Peterson — founder of The Self Coach HABIT™, mediator, and coach.
I created this work because I kept seeing the same thing: capable, intelligent, self-aware people losing trust in themselves in the exact moments that matter most.
Not because they don't know. Because under pressure, they override what they know — and go back to old patterns instead. That's the moment their life gets shaped.
The Self Coach HABIT™ isn't about becoming more confident. It's about becoming more honest, more self-led, more accurate with yourself — in real time. At its core, it's about self-authority: making decisions you can actually stand behind.
This work is personal.
I know what it's like to over-function. To carry more than is mine. To keep things working, even when something inside me wasn't.
I know what it costs to override your own knowing. And I know what it takes to stop.
Here's what I've come to see, through my own life and the people I've worked with: the hardest moments aren't defined by what's happening around you. They're defined by what happens inside you when it does.
That's where self-trust is built — or broken. That's what this work is for.
For more than three decades, I've worked with leaders, entrepreneurs, teams, and individuals navigating pressure, decision-making, and complexity — personally and professionally. My background spans executive HR and leadership roles, mediation, coaching, and years of study in human behavior, relational dynamics, and Human Design.
Here's what I've found: insight doesn't change your life. You can understand yourself deeply and still abandon yourself in the moments that matter. More information isn't the answer. Pattern interruption is.
The Self Coach HABIT™ is a structured way to work inside those moments — to recognize what's happening, stay present instead of defaulting, and choose differently, in real time.
Not conceptually. Practically.
I'm a pickleball addict — if you can't find me, check the courts. A kale-eating carnivore, yes — somehow both can be true. A recovering people-pleaser and perfectionist.
I'm not outside this work. I'm inside doing it right along with you.
I live in Southern Utah with my husband, Rick. We built this life later — after full careers and a lot of lived experience. We have a big, unblended family — six grown children, five grandbabies, and one more on the way.
These days, life looks like meaningful work, deep conversations, time outside, and a lot more honesty than I used to be comfortable with.
My work today centers on one thing: helping people stop overriding themselves, and start trusting what they know.
Through private coaching work, The Collective™ and Mediation, I help people see their patterns clearly, interrupt what isn't working, and make decisions they can actually stand behind.
Conflict still shows up. It's just no longer the focus. It's the signal.
Self-trust is the work. Self-authority is the direction.
If something feels off, and you're ready to stop managing it and actually look at it —
We can start with a conversation.
